The current issue of the magazine "der Architekt", published by the Association of German Architects, explores the question of what it means to re-use and re-purpose materials from buildings for new architecture. In addition to the material dimension of recycling and upcycling, the issue examines the symbolic character inherent in every material and building element.

In his contribution to the discussion "New Routine, New Aesthetics",Prof. Dr. Riklef Rambow (Chair of Architectural Communication) predicts that the rethinking of existing buildings can only succeed by turning away from traditional approaches.
