Mark Pimlott (Montréal, Canada, 1958) is an artist, designer, writer, and teacher, and currently Assistant Professor of architectural design at TU Delft, in the Chair of Interiors Buildings Cities since 2002, when he was appointed visiting professor. His practice incorporates photography, video, sculpture, and painting, permanent art installations for public places, and architectural design, particularly for interiors. Notable projects are ‘World’ at BBC Broadcasting House, London (2013); ‘La scala’, Aberystwyth (2003); and interiors of the Red House, London (2001 and 2011), in collaboration with Tony Fretton architects.
His work has been exhibited internationally, including the twelfth Biennale internazionale di architettura di Venezia (2010). He is the author of 'Without and Within: Essays on Territory and the Interior' (2007); ‘In Passing’ (2010), and 'The Public Interior as Idea and Project' (2016). ‘A walk from here to an other’ will be published in 2024, and ‘Means to a beginning’ in 2025. He lives and works in The Hague, Netherlands.
