The Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), the Division Management of Division 4, the KIT Department of Architecture, and the Institute of Design and Building Technology (IEB) mourn the death of
Professor Dr.-Ing. Fritz Wenzel
who passed away on October 02, 2020 at the age of 90.
Professor Dr.-Ing. Fritz Wenzel headed the Institute of Structural Engineering at the Department of Architecture of the University of Karlsruhe (TH) from 1967-1998.
With Professor Dr.-Ing Fritz Wenzel we lose an internationally renowned engineer, a dedicated and popular university teacher and an outstanding and committed human being. With his research on the preservation of historically significant buildings in Germany and abroad, the management of the interfaculty Collaborative Research Centre 315 of the German Research Foundation "Preservation of Historically Significant Buildings" at the University of Karlsruhe (TH), he found a broad echo that reached far beyond the boundaries of his subject and science.
KIT mourns the loss of a personality who had a formative influence on teaching and research and an extremely renowned scientist and university teacher.
Our sympathy goes to his family. We will always honor his memory.
