The KIT Faculty of Architecture mourns the death of Mr.

Prof. Dr. Norbert Schneider

who passed away at the age of 74 on November 17, 2019.

Norbert Schneider headed the Institute of Art History at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) from 1997 to 2009.

With Norbert Schneider, we lose an internationally renowned art historian, a dedicated and popular university lecturer, and an outstanding personality. With his research on Dutch painting of the early modern period and with numerous fundamental works on the history of European art and art theory, he found a broad echo that reached far beyond the boundaries of his discipline and of science.

We will always honour his memory. Our deepest sympathy goes to his family.
