The Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), the Division Management of Division 4, the KIT Department of Architecture, and the Institute of Design and Building Technology (IEB) mourn the death of Professor Dipl.-Ing. Wolfgang Bley, who passed away on September 19, 2021, at the age of 96.

Professor Dipl.-Ing. Wolfgang Bley held the professorship for Elemental Construction, Interior + Design from 1963 to 1990 and from 1968 to 1990 headed the Institute for Industrial Construction Production, which he had newly founded, at the Department of Architecture of the University of Karlsruhe (TH).

With Professor Wolfgang Bley, we are losing a renowned architect, a committed and popular university lecturer. With his research on, among other things, component systems made of spatial elements, non-load-bearing exterior walls for industrial, multi-storey residential construction, as well as numerous prototypes for office furniture programs at the University of Karlsruhe (TH), he found a broad echo that reached far beyond the boundaries of his discipline.
KIT mourns the loss of a personality who had a formative influence on teaching and research and an extremely renowned scientist and university teacher.

Our sympathy goes to his family. We will always honor his memory.
