KIT material library goes online!

The Material Library at KIT - the central point of contact for material research, exhibition and exchange on all aspects of building materials - is getting a digital extension: the new online material database is now available via our website!
After reopening in 2023 under the scientific direction of the Professorship of Sustainable Construction, the Material Library has established itself as a permanent institute within the faculty. It is located in building 20.40, room 141, on the second floor, and is open Monday to Friday.
With the connection to the material database of the Material Libraries of German Universities (MDH), a comprehensive research tool is now also available to you digitally. The MDH is a nationwide network of material libraries at architecture faculties that cooperatively collects knowledge on construction and raw materials and makes it freely accessible.
The database offers detailed information on
- technical properties,
- origin and production,
- environmental impact and sustainability,
- as well as many other material-relevant aspects.
We cordially invite you to use the new platform - whether in preparation for design projects, for research projects or for general inspiration. We look forward to your feedback and wish you every success with your material research!
